Privacy Policy for the “Curio” app

Effective date: 18 July 2026

1. Data controller

The controller of personal data processed in connection with the use of the “Curio” mobile application (the “App”) is Dawid Szyszka (StellarSoftware). Contact: dawidszyszka@gmail.com.

2. What data we process

Google account (optional) — if you sign in with Google, we process: your account identifier, name (display name), email address and profile picture URL. Signing in is optional — you can use the App as a guest.
Guest mode — the App generates a random identifier stored on your device; it is not linked to your identity.
In-app activity — the list of facts you have read (with the time of first view), facts added to favorites, and your chosen interests (categories). This data is used solely to provide the App’s features (history, favorites, personalized content ordering).
Notifications (optional) — if you enable notifications, we process your device token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), your chosen notification time and your device’s time zone. Turning notifications off in the App deletes this data.

We do not collect location data, contacts, files or any other data from your device. We do not display ads and we do not sell personal data.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process data solely to provide the App’s features: authentication, syncing favorites and history across devices, personalizing content ordering and delivering notifications (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of a contract for the electronic provision of a service; for notifications — Art. 6(1)(a), consent).

4. Data recipients and third-party services

Google LLC — sign-in (Google Sign-In) and delivery of notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging). Google Privacy Policy.
Pexels — the photos illustrating facts are loaded from Pexels; your device connects to Pexels servers to display the images. Pexels Privacy Policy.
Anthropic — fact content is generated on our server using AI models; no user data is sent to Anthropic.

We store data on our own server located in the European Union. Transmission between the App and the server is encrypted (HTTPS).

5. Retention

We keep data until your account is deleted / you request data deletion. Guest-mode data is linked only to a random identifier on your device and becomes unusable once the App is uninstalled.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, and to rectify, erase, restrict the processing of, and port your data, as well as to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office). To delete all data linked to your account, email dawidszyszka@gmail.com from the address you use to sign in to the App — we will delete the data promptly, no later than within 30 days.

7. Children

The App is educational and is not specifically directed at children under 13; we do not knowingly collect data from such users.

8. Changes to this policy

We will announce material changes to this policy in the App. The current version is always available at ciekawostki.stellarsoftware.pl/privacy-policy.
